About the trip: The Civil Rights trip is a powerful and important culminating experience in the CRS educational journey. The four-day three-night field trip offers our entire eighth grade class the chance to engage first-hand with American history in a deeply meaningful way. Starting with a flight from Boston, we will travel to Georgia and Alabama where we will visit key historical sites and learn from the stories of those who shaped the Civil Rights Movement.
Our itinerary is carefully curated to provide a comprehensive and immersive experience. We’ll begin in Atlanta, exploring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and then travel to Montgomery and Selma, where we’ll walk the very ground where pivotal events unfolded. We’ll also have the privilege of hearing firsthand accounts from individuals who were directly involved in the struggle for equality.
This trip will be challenging and emotional at times. We aim to foster critical thinking, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the ongoing importance of justice and equality in our society. In line with our mission, this experiential learning field trip will contribute to our graduates knowing themselves, understanding others, and preparing to shape the future of our diverse world with confidence and compassion.
